Gnosis I

A Águia que traga a Serpente. Para além do aspecto exotérico desta imagem, pois representa, com o seu simbolismo, o local onde foi fundada a cidade sagrada dos Astecas, Tenochtitlán, por Tenoch, e a base da actual Cidade do México. No seu aspecto esotérico, tem como representação a devolução da Alma ao Absoluto. A Águia (o Ser, a Mônada) vem em busca da Serpente (a Essência, a Chispa Divina), "devorando-a" e levando-a de regresso à Fonte.

Num dos pratos um vaso contendo o coração do neófito, do outro, a mais leve das penas. Vigilantes, os leões, esfinges, da Justiça Celestial. No centro o Ying e Yang do Equilíbrio Eterno.

O Caduceu de Mercúrio dos Iniciados é o Pilar da imagem, com a Grande Balança da Justiça como companheira. De um lado a Espada e o Escudo, símbolos da Morte do Ego, o Ouroboros e a Estrela de David, símbolos do Renascimento Interno. Do outro o Sacrífício pela Humanidade. As 3 Pirâmides, que se equivalem às 3 Montanhas. O Cálice dos Gnósticos, a Lua e o Sol, polos negativo e positivo da Grande Obra.

O Deus Hermafrodita, filho de Hermes e de Afrodite. A Águia, símbolo da Rebeldia Espiritual interior. Ele segura a lança, símbolo fálico, tendo na ponta o Tridente, símbolo da Divina Trindade, Pai, Filho e Espírito Santo. Á Sua volta, as 2 serpentes do Caduceu de Mercúrio, os canais Ida e Pingalá, da estrutura chakraniana Hindu. Ela segura o Cálice, contendo as 7 serpentes, símbolos da Pureza e Virgindade Espiritual. Por baixo do casal hermafrodita, a Lua e o Fogo. Este é o Arcano IX.

No centro, a caveira, símbolo da Morte Psicológica do ego, a Espada flamígera e a serpente enroscada no Caminho da "Ascenção".
